PUBLIC LECTURE IN THE VILLAGE HALL

BY ILYA ZILBERBERG:

‘The Russian Spirit’.

Friday 19th February at 7.30pm in Freshfield Hall.

£5.00 Concs: £3.00

Ilya Zilberberg was born in the former Soviet Union and came to the UK in 1971. For fifteen years he was a senior lecturer in Russian and Soviet Studies at Portsmouth University. The title of this talk is a reflection of various questions put to him, both in professional and social settings, regarding Russia, which Churchill famously described as "a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma!" His presentation will be neither political nor theoretical. Rather it will be human and factual, by way of concrete examples of what constitutes misunderstanding and understanding of 'the Russian Spirit'.
